The question

If our mum was born with about 300 eggs

and a Dad during his life makes half a trillion sperm

& if to make one of us

it took one of each -

then the chance of our existence at all

Is 1 in 1.5×10^9

.. add in the ‘not tonight dears’

the near-miss we had

when learning to drive

& that swim taken in water

later found to house crocodiles…

Then the chance of us even getting to read this page

is microscopically small

let’s say a fifth of that number

1 in 7.8*10^9

Now the chance for a pensioner in the US

getting Covid  is 1 in 19 million

 and the chance of

getting struck by lightening there is 1 in 1.1 million

So we are each far more unlikely

than is assumed – to exist…

we are 79 times more likely to get Covid

and 1,364 times more likely to get struck by lightening

-    than to be here at all…

But we do all exist – a pinch will prove it!

and if so rare

then like a diamond

we should all be the more valued

Each and every one of us

whatever our gender or colour or shape

or how fast we can run…!

The odds of our wee blue planet

existing at all are billions of times even more remote -

It all goes to show -  and that pinch proves we do exist

that given all those numbers

.. we could not be here by chance-

So it behoves us all

to get our arses off the sofa

-    while we are here

& say taa to the chief designer-

and achieve something

during our own brief flight

on planet earth…

Before we have to answer that question from St Peter

“What did you achieve?”
